  • Analysis of sanitary and hygienic requirements for live bivalve molluscs and areas of their cultivation

    Esina, L.M.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
The analysis of sanitary and hygienic requirements, established by EAEU Technical Regulation 040/2016, which should be met by aquaculture farms in the process of bivalves cultivation, has been carried out. The retention of live molluscs in distribution and purification centers with the aim of their biological cleaning is a compulsory requirement. European experience concerning zoning of the areas of mollusc cultivation on the basis of presence of fecal coliform bacteria is analyzed, as well as the possibility of marketing molluscs without preliminary retention in distribution and purification centers. Absence of the regulatory instruments on zoning of the areas of mollusc cultivation in the Russian Federation is highlighted. It is noted that AEU Technical Regulation 040/2016 establishes uniform microbiological standards for live mussels, irrespective of whether the molluscs are meant for consumption in live condition, or for industrial processing. Necessity of applying international experience on zoning of the areas of mollusc cultivation is pointed out; it should make possible to set microbiological standards for live molluscs depending on the contamination with coliform bacteria and to precondition the cases, when retention of molluscs in distribution and purification centers would not be a compulsory requirement.

    Khorosheltseva, V.N.; Strizhakova, T.V.; Bortnikov, E.S.; Mosesyan, G.V.; Bugeev, L.A.; Denisova, T.V.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
Information on lenaea invasions in the fish species, inhabiting the ponds of the South of Russia is provided. In the course of this study, 7 fish species from fish farms in the Rostov Region (3 fish farms), Krasnodar (3), and Stavropol (1) Krais have been investigated. Using methods of physical examination and parasitological analysis, over 1000 fish specimens (European carp, grass carp, silver carp, Prussian carp, white bream, and European perch species) were analyzed. On the investigated fish farms, various levels of infection with Lernaea cyprinacea as a lerneosis etiological agent have been recorded. The highest values of invasion prevalence and intensity (81 specimens) were recorded in grass carp 3- and 4-yearlings in the fattening reservoir on the fish farm in the Krasnodar Krai. Parasites were found, predominantly, on fish body surface, and, in isolated cases, on gills.

    Gorbenko, E.V.; Dakhno, L.G.; Pavlyuk, A.A.; Sergeeva, S.G.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
In 2017–2019, studies were carried out to define the morphological and biological status and the age composition of the roach and zander breeders that enter spawning grounds in the reservoirs of the Yeysk experimental fish breeding farm and the Beisugsky fish rearing farm. To assess if the breeders were ready to spawn, such indicators were studied as weight, length, fecundity, gonad maturity and condition factors. The spawning stocks of roach and zander were found to include, primarily, young fish, such as 2–3-year-old roach and 2–4-year-old zander; therefore, the main morphological and biological indicators of the fish were worse than in previous years. Supply of roach and zander breeders to the spawning grounds is shown. The number of roach breeders on the farms was, generally, higher than the standard set for the spawning ponds, except for the year of 2019 in the Beisugsky fish rearing farm (69.8 nests/ha). The density of zander breeders at the spawning grounds of both farms was by 4–50 times lower than required.
  • From the experience of application of activated carbon for detoxification of sturgeon juveniles

    Spivak, E.G.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
In this article, research results concerning facilitation of removal of organochlorine pesticides (OCP) and heavy metals (HM) from the Russian sturgeon juveniles (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii Brandt et Ratzeburg, 1833), using activated carbon (AC) added to their feed, are presented. It has been found out that, along with removal of these toxic agents, addition of AC to the feed prevented the development of toxicant-induced disease. Based on the study, AC is recommended for use in fish feed for the purpose of OCP and HM removal from organs and tissues of the juveniles of sturgeons and other fish species, and from the organs and tissues of adult individuals belonging to small-sized fish species.
  • Genetic diversity of the Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) breeders from the broodstocks on the fish farms of the Azov and Black Sea Basin

    Lepeshkov, A.G.; Ivanova, E.A.; Kulba, S.N.; Nebesikhina, N.A.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
Genetic diversity of the Russian sturgeon breeders from the broodstocks at the fish farms of the Azov-Don and Azov-Kuban Branches of FSBI “Glavrybvod” has been studied in comparison with the data, collected from the fish in a natural population. During this research, the changes in allelic profile and allele frequencies in the Russian sturgeon breeders were recorded. Appearance and disappearance of rare alleles (<5 % frequency) both at the edges and within distributions do not display any specific trend and are preconditioned by genetic drift (random fluctuations) in the samples with low effective abundance. Along with this, the tendency for increase in the percentage of “weak” heterozygotes (AAAB) as a result of spontaneous formation of a broodstock has been identified. The breeders from a broodstock, as opposed to the fish from the natural population, show the deficit of heterozygotes, which, in the future, can negatively affect the quality of released juveniles.
  • Results of artificial reproduction of the Russian sturgeon in the Azov-Don Region in 2017–2018

    Pavlyuk, A.A.; Gorbenko, E.V.; Panchenko, M.G.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
At present, artificial reproduction is practically the only source of replenishment of the Sea of Azov with young sturgeon fish species. Research in this area allows to identify problem areas in the reproduction process and find ways to solve them. Analysis of materials and data collected at different stages of the juvenile reproduction process during the studies has shown low efficiency of these activities. Depreciation of production capacities and non-observance of propagation techniques has been the reason of poor artificial rearing of the juvenile sturgeon in the Azov-Don Region in 2017–2018.
  • Some aspects of facilitating cultivation efficiency of the Don sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus) on sturgeon-rearing farms of the Azov and Don Region

    Gorbacheva, L.T.; Gorbenko, E.V.; Panchenko, M.G.; Vorob'eva, O.A.; Pavlyuk, A.A.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
The results of long-term studies on elaboration of biological and technological practices of artificial reproduction of the Don sterlet in the context of fish farms of the Azov and Don Region, aimed at the reduction of losses of the fish breeding material at different stages of cultivation, are presented. During the experiments, selection of females by weight was done, thermal factor when dealing with breeders was optimized, and the dosage of maturation and oocyte ovulation stimulants was identified. The results were evaluated in terms of ovulation timing in mature reproductive products, of the their fertilization rate, of the fecundity of females, of the survival rate of embryos, and of the number of 1-day larvae per one female in test and control groups. At present, the obtained results are successfully applied in the context of commercial cultivation of sterlet in the Azov and Don Region.

    Zinchuk, O.A.; Baimova, I.B.; Karpushova, T.N.; Besschetnova, L.M.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
Microbiological method of agricultural pests control involves usage of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. Bacterial insecticides have been firmly established in the practice of controlling many pest species in agriculture and successfully compete with chemical plant protection products. The main advantage of biological agents is their complete safety for the environment and animals. They are not phytotoxic, do not accumulate in plants, and quickly decompose in the soil. Toxicological effect of insecti- and nematicide Poncho Votivo, CS on hydrobionts of different taxonomic groups: microalgae (Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turpin) Brébisson), macrophytes (Anacharis canadensis (Michaux) Planchon, 1848), molluscs (Planorbarius corneus (Linnaeus, 1758)), and embryos and fry of the round goby (Neogobius melanostomus (Pallas, 1814)), has been evaluated. During the experiment, the conditions of intoxication were simulated and toxicometric indicators for hydrobionts of different trophic levels were calculated. For each test subject, threshold and inactive concentrations of the preparative form of Poncho Votivo, CS were experimentally established. The research results allowed to identify the link that proved the most sensitive to the studied insecti- and nematicide.

Mussel collectors have been studied, and their practical yield capacity has been estimated for a specific area. Methodology for estimation of the predicted yield of a collector is presented. Recommendations on optimization of the marine construction of the type “saw-shaped carrying collector”, as well as for estimation the volumes of yield in a specific area, based on collector yield capacity and density of their distribution in the areas of industrial cultivation, are given. The standard for the amount of cultivated mussels per area unit for the saw-shaped carrying collectors is devised.
  • Accumulation and spatial distribution of heavy metals and arsenic in bottom sediments of coastal areas of the Crimean Peninsula in 2016–2018

    Petrenko, A.A.; Korablina, I.V.; Katalevsky, N.I.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
Based on a summary of the expeditionary observations results, special features of accumulation and spatial distribution of heavy metals and arsenic in the surface layer of bottom sediments in the coastal areas of Crimea for the period of 2016–2018 are presented. A correlation between the level of metal accumulation and the granulometric composition of bottom sediments was detected. In the areas with minimal anthropogenic pressure, finer fractions accumulate large amounts of metals and arsenic. Increased industrial pressure in the investigated area leads to the accumulation of high concentrations of metals and arsenic by coarser fractions. The results obtained allow to identify areas of high concentrations of the studied microelements and determine the trends of changes in their total content.

    Martynyuk, M.L.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
In this article, the distribution and quantitative characteristics of the zooplankton development in the north-eastern Black Sea have been considered based on the data, collected in the course of hydrobiological surveys in spring, summer and autumn of 2016–2017. It has been found out that a low level of development is typical for the food plankton in spring and summer. Maximum values of food biomass, determined by the outbreak of seasonal species of the cladocera Penilia avirostris, were observed in autumn. At that time, the values of food biomass exceeded 100 mg/m3 in the major part of the coastal waters of the north-eastern sea, while in some areas the biomass exceeded even 200 mg/m3.
  • Hydrochemical characteristics of the Taganrog Bay in the early summer of 2018

    Burdina, E.I.; Kosenko, Yu.V.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
The hydrochemical situation of the Taganrog Bay (Azov Sea) is assessed for the period of the early summer, 2018. Sampling was carried out at 12 stations, covering the entire water area of the bay. It was found out that the increased spring flow of the Don River was markedly represented in the spatial distribution of oxygen and biogenic elements. The greatest amount of biogenic elements was found in the eastern region of the bay, directly affected by river flow. It was shown that in the western region, on the contrary, the destruction of the autochthonous organic matter prevailed. Water saturation with phosphates and silicic acid was noted, while the content of nitrates was detected down by their consumption by phytoplankton. The rate of photosynthetic processes was higher mainly in the eastern region and off the northern coast of the Taganrog Bay, which corresponded to the characteristic flow of the Don River waters.

  • European perch (Perca fluviatilis) fecundity from the Veselovsk Reservoir

    Golovko, G.V.; Chubova, E.E.; Belousov, V.N. (2019)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
Based on the conducted long-term studies, the data on fecundity of the European perch females in the Veselovsk Reservoir (Rostov Region) have been analyzed. Relevance of this research is contingent on the fact that commercial importance of the European perch is increasing in recent years; the other important point is that formation of the ichthyocoenosis structure of the reservoir is influenced significantly by the presence of carnivorous fish species, and their abundance is defined by many factors, including their fecundity. Analysis of fecundity of the European perch in the Veselovsk Reservoir is presented for 2015–2018. Individual fecundity of females makes up 39.0±2.20 thousand eggs, on average, and is dependent on their body weight and length. At present, relative fecundity of the perch in the Veselovsk Reservoir, on average, is 151.2±5.32 ths eggs/kg. Population fecundity of the perch in the investigated area in 2017 equaled 5.4 billion eggs.
