The article deals with some aspects of raising young stellate sturgeon in a sturgeon hatchery of the Azov-Don region by applying a combined method. Hydrochemical parameters and feeding conditions during juveniles’ rearing in the sturgeon hatchery by a combined method are described; the stellate sturgeon growth rate is registered at the stage of early ontogenesis. The main problems arising during the incubation of the larvae in pools and rearing ponds have been revealed and the effects are shown of violation of technology exploitation in the ponds where stellate sturgeon fries are growing.

Genetic diversity has been assessed in the breeders of Russian sturgeon from the broodstock maintained in the Don sturgeon hatchery. Six individuals are revealed with the mitotype of Caspian origin. The breeders, produced and raised from eggs in the hatchery, have a trend to preserve new STR-alleles while the alleles specific to wild breeders disappear.

Data are presented on the status of artificial reproduction and restocking success of the Azov Sea anadromous fish species over the last five years. The morphofunctional state of the juveniles is analyzed at the stage of their release into a natural waterbody; adaptive abilities of the juveniles to changing environmental conditions at the time of their migration into the sea are predicted. The wild anadromous migrating fish and sturgeon spawners from the broodstock are characterized and their reproductive potential is estimated. Some aspects are considered of improving the efficiency of reproduction (environmental) complex in order to preserve the most valuable aquatic biological resources of the Azov Sea, and the development of pasturable fish culture that is one of the priorities of aquaculture.

    Fedorova, E.A.; Zinchuk, O.A.; Vlasenko, E.S.; Belousov, V.N. (2017)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
A comparative assessment of the toxicity of the azole pesticide action on the processes of Daphnia life is made. It demonstrates the different intensity of toxic effects of the xenobiotics analyzed. The findings of chronic experiment allowed to determine inoperative and threshold concentration of the substances studied. It was found out that for the same content of active substance (metsulfuron-methyl) Singer showed great toxicity, which is caused by the presence of more toxic components in the mixture. It was concluded that in this case, more rational for the environment is the use of the herbicide Laren, as less dangerous to aquatic organisms studied.

Some modern fungicides belonging to five chemical classes and their acute toxicity to embryos and pre-larvae of sturgeon (sterlet, bester, sturgeon) and Daphnia have been studied. The relationship is found between the chemical structure and the toxicity of fungicides which has been defined by some toxicometric parameters. The degree of toxicity is found to depend on their chemical structure. It was detected that the most dangerous for sturgeon and zooplankton are the strobilurin fungicides and dithiocarbamates. Carboxamides of the last generation have a wide range of toxic effects - from high to low toxicity.

    Levina, I.L.; Kuznetsova, L.Ya.; Shcherbakova, N.I.; Zinchuk, O.A.; Belousov, V.N. (2017)
    AzNIIRKH Proceedings
The effect of two novel carboxamide fungicides, Ethaboxam and Boscalid, on round goby fry and carp fingerlings has been studied. Boscalid is characterized to be highly toxic when applied to round goby fries, Ethaboxam is of medium toxicity to commercial fish species. In the early stages of intoxication (1st - 4th day) the threshold concentrations of the fungicides acted as stressors and resulted in the stimulation of protective systems of the antioxidant protection and detoxification in the liver and gills of carp and round goby tissues, which hindered the development of fungicide intoxication. Intensification of lipid peroxidation processes led to the inhibition of superoxide dismutase activity alongside with the increased activity of catalase, esterases, glutathione-S-transferase, while glutathione content in fish tissues decreased gradually.
