Abstract
The Black Sea upwellings mode was investigated based on the data of the NOAA satellite monitoring (1988- 2013). It is indicated that their frequency of occurrence and intensity level have increased for the last 5 years. Three main recreational zones (southern, south-eastern and western coasts of Crimea) are defined and characterized taking into account climatic factors. It is shown that the climb of cold deepsea water masses during the warm season affects negatively recreational conditions in some coastal areas of the Black Sea. Peculiarities of the coastal upwelling structure within the Black Sea area are given. Specific recommendations on exploitation and development of recreational resorts in the northern and eastern parts of Kerch Peninsula, where upwellings do not occur throughout a year, are given.
