Tỉ lệ sống và tăng trưởng của san hô thử nghiệm phục hồi ở Khu bảo tồn biển Cù Lao Chàm - Quảng NamAbstract
Rehabilitation of hard corals in Cu Lao Cham MPA was conducted during 2012 - 2013 in order to restore some reef areas degraded due to impacts of typhoon and flooding in recent years. The rehabilitation had been practiced since April 2012, using technique of coral fragment transplantation and followed by monitoring of survival and growth rate of transplanted corals in July, September 2012 and April, August 2013 at 4 sites (Bai Bac and Bai Huong with 2,778 colonies and 2,033 colonies of foliose life form respectively; Ran Me and Hon Tai with 228 colonies and 342 colonies of branch corals respectively). The survival rate of transplanted corals is quite good with high value in Bai Bac (85.58%) and Ran Me (84.40%) but a bit lower in Bai Huong and Hon Tai (less than 80%). Among selected species, foliose corals of Montipora genus had the fastest growth rate (3.22 mm/month), followed by branch corals of Acropora (2.25 mm/month) and foliose corals of Pachyseris (1.64 mm/month). The experiment indicated that more extensive rehabilitation of hard corals can be done, considering controls of coral predators and seaweed competition.Journal
