Productive performance of Clarias gariepinus by reducing ration and increase dietary protein.
Abstract
Un total de 225 alevines de Clarias gariepinus (10,1 +- 0,01 g peso promedio inicial) se distribuyeron al azar en tres tratamientos triplicados, según modelo de clasificación simple para evaluar su desempeño productivo al reducir la cantidad de ración e incrementar los niveles de proteína dietética en el alimento. Los tratamientos consistieron en tres dietas con 35,0 %, 40,0 % y 45,0 % de proteína bruta (PB) que se adicionaron al 8,0 %, 7,0 % y 6,2 % del peso corporal /día para que todos los peces recibieran 2,8 g PB por kg de peso vivo/día. El alimento suministrado no difirió significativamente (p mayor que 0,05) entre los tratamientos (44,3; 44,9 y 45,3 g/pez). Sin embargo, se encontraron diferencias significativas en la PB suministrada (16,1; 18,0 y 20,4 g/pez), los crecimientos (39,4; 47,8 y 59,1 g de peso promedio) y la conversión alimentaria (1,5; 1,2 y 0,9), a favor de la disminución de ración e incremento de los niveles de proteína dietética. El análisis económico mostró diferencias en los costos de las raciones (0,857; 0,977 y 1,088 CUC/kg), pero menores montos en la producción de un kilogramo de peso vivo (1,285; 1,172 y 0,979 CUC/kg). Se demostró que al reducir la ración y aumentar la concentración de proteína dietética se mejoró el desempeño productivo de Clarias gariepinus con impacto económico positivo.
A total of 225 Clarias gariepinus fingerling (10,1 +- 0,01g average initial weight) were randomly distributed in three treatments by triplicate, according to simple classification model to evaluate their productive performance when reducing quantity of ration and to increase dietary protein levels in food. The treatments consisted on three diets with 35,0 %, 40,0 % y 45,0 % crude protein (CP) that were added to the 8,0 %, 7,0 % and 6,2 % of body weight/day so that all the fish received 2,8 g CP per kg of body weight/day. The added food didn’t differ significantly (p greater than 0,05) among treatments (44,3; 44,9 and 45,3 g/fish). However, given CP (16,1; 18,0 and 20,4 g/fish), growth (39,4; 47,8 and 59,1 g average weight) and food conversion (1,5; 1,2 and 0,9), different significantly between treatments in favor of the decrease of ration and increment of protein levels. Economic analysis showed differences in costs of rations (0,857; 0,977 and 1,088 CUC/kg), but smaller value in production of a kilogram of body weight (1,285; 1,172 and 0,979 CUC/kg). The reduction on daily ration and increasing concentration of dietary protein improved the productive performance of Clarias gariepinus with a positive economic impact.
