Spatial distribution of ichthyoplankton in summer and autumn in relation to environmental conditions in the Gulf ofالتوزيع الجغرافي لبيض و يرق السمك في الصيف و الخريف وظروف المحيط بخليج تونس
Abstract
Fish eggs and larvae were studied in relation to environmental conditions in the Gulf of Tunis in summer and autumn 2002. The averages of sea surface temperature were 25,51°c in the summer and 21,85°c in the autumn. The averages fish eggs and larvae abundances were more important in summer (360 eggs/10m² and 244 larvae/10m²) than in autumn (115 eggs/10m² and 174 larvae/10m²). The spatial distribution of both components of ichthyoplankton appear not directly correlated to temperature, salinity, dissolve oxygen, pH, chlorophyll a and the abundance of mesozooplankton. However, it seems that bathymetry influence this distribution.
