Development of the zooplankton community of the steppe rivers in Krasnodar KraiAbstract
The steppe rivers of Krasnodar Krai, Russia (Yeya R., Chelbas R., Beysug R., Levyi Beisuzhek R., Kirpili R., Kochety R., Ponura R.) were studied during spring and summer of 2015. Taxonomic composition, number of species, zooplankton abundance and biomass in each river were identified, indices of species similarity between planktonic communities in the rivers have been estimated. It was found out that the species composition of the planktonic communities is high, whereas similarity between species compositions in the rivers is quite low (0.09-0.40). Biota of the investigated rivers is mostly comprised by widely distributed species.
