With this work continued the study and evaluation of sites and river systems with the presence of the joturo or biajaca del Guaso (Nandopsis ramsdeni Fowler, 1938), freshwater fish endemic to the Guantánamo fluvial system, also found in some adjacent rivers, in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Holguin. It was shown that the population of Arroyo Hondo, one of the typical localities of this fish, became extinct. It was found that the presence of introduced and invasive species of the fluvial ichthyofauna in some rivers has decimated the joturo, for example, the fish cat (Clarias gariepinus) and Alejandro de Humboldt National Park is identified as the most important site of its population confinement. The joturo or biajaca of Guaso showed a high affinity for the rocky bottoms together with its condition of habitat engineer guarantees effective protection, since in more than 52 % of these rivers the rocky bottoms predominate. With the cartographic methods and the Geographical Information System, a map of the area was designed, the fish inventory was updated with determination of the presence/absence of the taxon, a comparative morphometry analysis was made and interviews were applied to subsistence fishermen in the local communities.en_US
