dc.description.abstract | The materials of 2014–2016 are presented. They characterize the physiological state of the Pontic shad breeders that migrate for spawning from the Black and Azov Seas to the Don River. In 2014–2015, at the beginning of the spawning period, high values of condition factor, as well as of the fat and protein content in the muscles and liver were observed in shad breeders, which gives evidence of the good pre-spawning fish feeding. By the end of spawning, the values of these indicators have decreased because of significant expenditure of energy resources due to prolonged spawning. In 2016, for the first time over the entire period of our studies, certain deterioration in the physiological state of the breeders and their readiness for spawning was noted. Compared with the long-term average annual data, the content of protein and fat in muscles and liver significantly decreased. We associate the cause of the deterioration of the Pontic shad state with change in the conditions of its fattening in 2015–2016. | en_US |
| en_US |
