Alternative Title
Oil film influence on the thermodynamic regime of the spill area
Abstract
The oil surface slick influence on the thermal and current regimes is being studied. It is supposed that the slick affects the upper layer regime by the following factors: albedo increasing, wave damping, decreasing or cessation of the water evaporation, accumulation of the short-wave solar radiation into the slick layer. These mechanisms were studied on the numerical experiments with the help of an 1-D model for the upper ocean layer. Results for the calm and moderate wind conditions have been presented.
