dc.description.abstractAsound speed profile is an essential parameter for the bathymetric survey with a multi−beam echo sounder. We developed a new program which estimates an appropriate sound speed for bathymetric surveys based on smile/ frown curves in multi−beam echo sounder data. This program helps users in selecting the most appropriate sound speed profile when there are several actual sound speed profiles to choose from. In addition, the sound speed estimated by the program might be able to roughly correct smile/frown curves when actual sound speed profiles are not availableen_US
