La identificación y registro de coberturas vegetales a nivel de asociaciones realizadas con métodos convencionales requiere de largos periodos de tiempo y de una inversión de dinero elevada, por tanto es objeto de este trabajo contribuir y agilizar el proceso de identificación de coberturas vegetales, apoyándose en un proceso de teledetección a partir de aerofotografías digitales, debido a que es una técnica rápida, eficaz y con un costo de implementación bajo. Para determinar las coberturas vegetales utilizando un proceso de teledetección a partir de aerofotografías digitales, se analizó la reflectancia del espectro electromagnético que cada asociación vegetal emite, utilizando como fuente de información imágenes digitales. Dichas aerofotografías fueron sometidas a técnicas de procesamiento digital de imágenes que permitieron identificar los diferentes rasgos geomorfológicos de la zona de estudio, así como clasificar y catalogar las coberturas vegetales, utilizando algoritmos de reconocimiento de texturas basados en el análisis de su firma espectral. Finalmente, los resultados de la determinación de las coberturas vegetales obtenidas del procesamiento digital de las aerofotografías, fueron comparados con datos in situ para validar la precisión del métodoThe identification and registration of vegetation coverage by association performed with conventional methods requires large investments of both time and money. Therefore, the object of this study is to facilitate the identification of VC with the support of a remote sensing process based on aerial digital photography due to the agility, efficiency, and low cost involved in using this technique. In order to determine vegetation coverage using remote sensing based on aerial digital photography, the spectral irradiance emitted by each type of vegetation association was analyzed using aerial digital photography as the source of information. The aerial digital photography were submitted to digital processing techniques that allow for the identification of the different geomorphologic traits in the area that was studied as well as the classification and cataloging of the vegetation coverage using texture recognition algorithms based on the analysis of their spectral signature. Finally, the results that were obtained by the processing of the aerial digital photography in order to determine vegetation coverage were compared to in situ data in order to validate the precision of this method of analysis
