Réseaux et groupes d'appartenance chez les pêcheurs migrants : le cas des wolofs de n'diago (Mauritanie)

Abstract

L'article situe les conditions historiques d'émergence du phénomène migratoire chez les Wolof de N'Diago et de son autonomisation vis-à-vis de des pêcheurs de Guet-N'dar (Saint-Louis) du Sénégal. Il traite des différents réseaux et groupes d'appartenance qui constituent des lieux et modes d'affirmation et d'expression des processus identitaires manipulés à des fins stratégiques d'accès aux ressources de la pêche. Par ailleurs, les phénomènes d’identification à un espace géographique institutionnel sont éclairé à partir d'une approche conceptuelle, bilatéralité des références. Ce qui permet de saisir les conditions particulières des activités de pêches pratiquées dans un contexte de migration et les conséquences de ces migrations sur la différenciation sociale. Enfin, l'article montre comment le phénomène identitaire s’ajuste et se réaménage de façon permanente pour s'accommoder et être compatible avec les activités de pêche.

This paper describes the historical development of the migratory phenomenon among the wolof fishermen of N’Diago, and the process of its separation from the fishermen of the Guet N’dar (St-Louis) of Senegal. It highlights the different networks and social groupings that constitutes the places and means of the expressing identity used for strategic objective of obtaining access to fish resources. In addition, the phenomenon of identification with geographical and institutional areas is described using a conceptual approach called "bilateral references". This approach allows a description of the specific conditions of the fishing activities in situation of migration and the consequences of these migrations on the social differenciation. Finally, the paper demonstrates how the identity is continously adjusting and re-adapting in order to be compatible to fishing activities.
