Alternative Title
The study of gametogenesis of the octopus Octopus vulgaris (Cuvier, 1797)
Abstract
The study of gametogenesis of the octopus (Octopus vulgaris) was conducted on basis of histological observations on the male and female gonads. Ovogenesis of cephalopods is marked by dynamic of follicular cells. These cells, organised in follicles, multiply in the conjunctive tissue of the ovary and move in the direction oocytes for to surround them. They will form folds in the cytoplasm and contribute in the yolk synthesis. The progressive production of the yolk allows the follicle rupture and release of oocyte in the ovarian cavity. The maturation of male sexual cells takes place in the cysts of testicles in centripet way. The spermatogonies, located in the periphery of cysts, will evolved in spermatocyste, then spermatide and spermatozoa in the light of cyst.
