The study of socio-economic aspects of Lake Kimira fisheries after the ban on fishing

Abstract

Lake Kimira is a minor lake in Bugiri district one of the riparian district of Lake Victoria. It is an important source of livelihood to people living in the neighbouring sub counties; Iwemba in the southwest, Kapyanga in the South and Buluguyi in the East. At the request made to the District Fisheries Officer of Bugiri District, this study was conducted to gather information on the Socioeconomicaspects of lake kimira fisheries after the ban on fishing with regards to fish amounts, marketing, consumption and the perception of the people about the restocking and the ban
