Fish distribution and marketing is a subject which has received less emphasis in the past than the attention accorded to the production and marketing of other primary commodities in East Africa. It is now, as is implied by planned moves into this field, a subject of greater importance and urgency than ever. This is so because the trade in freshwater fishes has grown to such an extent that it is now estimated that the Lake Victoria fish trade alone is in the region of £3 million per year. This means Quite a lot to the welfare of millions of people in East Africa either benefitting directly as their source of income and food? or indirectly by government services, some of which have been made possible by the revenues obtained from taxes levied on the industry.Publisher or University
