Variabilidad hidroclimática en el Golfo de Batabanó, Cuba

Abstract

An study of hydroclimate variability in the region of the gulf of Batabanó analyzing the water and air monthly temperatures series from 1982 to 2008 was carried out. The correlation between both variables were r = 0,87 and was obtained an equation that allow to reconstruct the water temperature series from 2003 until 2008.The water temperature average was 27,60 ºC, with standard deviations of 1,496. In the anomalies fluctuations are observed warm and cold periods. The maximum positive anomalies appear in 1997-1998 and 2002-2003. In the transformed series of the annual water temperature average, a tendency to the temperature increase at the end of the 1990´s is obtained, until the 2008. The transformed series of the air temperature average had warming and cooling periods with average values of 24,85 ºC and standard deviation of 0,26. At the end of the 1990 decade was observed a warmer cycle, which has influence in the sea surface temperature. The 2 seasonal patterns of the air and the water presented a significant correlation, with the maximum positive anomalies on June and September; and the smaller values appeared on January and February.

Se presenta un estudio sobre la variabilidad hidroclimática en la región del Golfo de Batabanó a partir del análisis de series mensuales de temperatura del agua y del aire en el período comprendido entre 1982 y 2008. Fue estimada la correlación entre ambas variables con r = 0,87 y una ecuación pronóstico que permitió reconstruir la serie de temperatura del agua a partir de 2003 hasta el 2008. La temperatura promedio del agua es de 27,60 °C, con desviaciones estándar de 1,49. En las anomalías se observan fluctuaciones que responden a períodos cálidos y fríos. Las máximas anomalías positivas se presentan en 1997-1998 y 2002-2003. En la serie transformada de la temperatura promedio anual del agua se obtiene una tendencia al incremento de la temperatura a finales de la década de 1990, el cual se mantiene a lo largo de los años hasta el 2008. La serie promedio transformada de la temperatura del aire, presentó períodos de calentamiento y enfriamiento con valores promedio de 24,85 °C y desviación estándar de 0,26. A finales de la década de los 90 se observó un ciclo cálido, el cual tiene influencia en la temperatura superficial del agua. Los patrones estacionales del aire y del agua presentaron una estrecha relación, alcanzando las máximas anomalías positivas entre junio y septiembre; y los menores valores entre enero y febrero.
