The deterioration in fisheries resources is a fact faced by the world fishing industry and the consumer alike. The need for Responsible Fisheries management has never been as great as it is now, not in any one country in particular, but in every country of this region of the world. This workshop held in Bangkok in June of 1997 highlighted the underlying importance given to the problems of management by the high calibre and international reputations of the participants. The objectives of the factor in management proposals to the need for accurate and practical information dissemination by way of human resource development with sustainability and selective fishing as the catchwords of progress and a definition of national purpose and interest in The Code of Conduct for Responsible Fishing.Pages
