Biomass estimation of the demersal resources in the Guayaquil gulf (june 2007)Abstract
It is presented the results of the fishing investigation survey T07/06/02 D carried out in the Gulf of Guayaquil from 3 to 21 of June of 2007 on board of B/I TOHALLI of the National Institute of Fishing. This study is complemented with information on physical, chemical and Plancktonics conditions in the marine environment. As much densities as biomasses of the main species display decrease in their values, this confirms the gradual decrement reported in previous fishing investigation surveys. The species chazo and camotillo showed a similar distribution, the first specie was near to the west limit of the Gulf, whereas the second one was at the central part of the Gulf. The obtained plancktonic densities would be the result of present oceanographic conditions originated by the entrance of the southwest water. The detected red tide corresponded to species M. rubrums and its presence is related to upwelling process or nutrients availability.
