The main morphological, reproductive and larval development aspects of two species of the Prionospio genus were described based on material collected in the bay of Corral and estuary of the Valdivia river. Prionospio patagonica is a common habitant of soft sediments, being observed mainly at the interior of the estuaries of the south eastern Pacific. Contrary to previous morphological descriptions, this species presents two pairs of eyes and an internal layer is not observed in its hooded hooks. The sexual maturity, takes place starting from the first months of spring, where females and males can be seen with gametogenical segments, begining, approximately in individuals with more than 50 segments. The gametes are developed from the segments 21-27 to the 51-111 in females, while in males they are developed from the 22-25 to the 41-101. The espermatogenesis happens mainly in the celomic cavity. The sperms are ect-aquasperm type, related with external fertilization. The ovocites observed presented a homogeneous diameter of 87 µm, from which it is inferred a synchronous ovogenesis, related with fertilization processes in the water mass. A great number of larvaes of this species are observed, in two different periods inside the warm season. It was possible to observe pelagic larvaes from 2 segments to the stadium of 6-7 segments. Then this settles in the sediment, to complete the development of mature structures, mainly the development of branchiaes. The larvaes of this species are characterized by the presence in the early stadiums, only one pair of eyes, and one eye located in middle right position, brown-yellowish pigmentation in the middle region of the body and the presence of the "ciliated-pit" complex on the ventral region. Prionospio orensazi, is an inhabitant of soft sediments, described recently in the coasts of the Magallanes strait and extending its distribution towards the South center of Chile. Contrary to previous morphological descriptions for this species, it was identified a ciliation present in the sides of the segments 5-6. It was possible to observe individuals with gametogenic segments at the end of the spring, being found in females from the 21 to the 51-55 segments and in males from the 18-23 until 36-54 segments. As in the previous species, it presents the ect-aquasperm sperms type and ovocites with a homogeneous diameter of 110 µm. As in mature individuals, it was not possible to observe a great number of larvaes in the plankton, presenting equally 2 periods during the warm season. The larvaes of this species settles in stage over 28 segments, where the main formation of adults structures takes place in the water column. With these antecedents, differences in the time of permanency in the mass of water can be deduced, which could influence the dispersion patterns of these 2 species.en
