El mejillón verde Perna viridis (Linnaeus 1758), es una especie exótica invasora cuya presencia en Cuba sólo había sido constatada en la bahía de Cienfuegos, donde causa grandes daños principalmente económicos debido a sus elevadas densidades en los canales de la termoeléctrica Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. Es objetivo de este trabajo fue reportar oficialmente la presencia de P. viridis en la bahía de Mariel, y presentar además los valores de algunas variables abióticas que describen las condiciones generales de los sitios en los que se encontró la especie.Green mussel Perna viridis (Linnaeus 1758) is an invading exotic species whose presence in Cuba had been only reported in Cienfuegos Bay, where cause great mainly economic damages due to its high densities in the channels of the thermoelectrical station Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. The objective of this paper is to report officially the presence of P. viridis in Mariel Bay, and to present additionally the values of some abiotic variables that describe the general conditions of the sites where mussels were found.
