Abstract
Se analiza la ocurrencia y distribución del tinglado en Cuba a partir del comportamiento de su captura ocasional entre los años 1967 y 1994, y su variación mensual para el período 1980-1993. Se capturó en toda la plataforma cubana y sus niveles más altos se presentaron en la región noroccidental. Se capturaron durante todos los meses del año, principalmente en los meses de diciembre y enero. Veintiún ejemplares muestreados de las capturas mostraron longitudes curvas del caparazón entre 108 cm y 212 cm y pesos entre 113 kg y 428 kg. Se aporta información sobre avistamientos de tinglados en diferentes sitios de la plataforma en los últimos 15 años (2000-2014) y de tinglados marcados en otras regiones recapturados en las aguas cubanas.
The occurrence and distribution of the leatherback turtle in Cuba is analyzed from the behavior of its national occasional catch between 1967 and 1994, and its monthly variation for the 1980-1993 period. It was captured across the Cuban shelf and their highest levels occurred in the northwestern region. During all months of the year, mainly in the months of December and January was caught. Twenty-one specimens sampled from the catch, indicated curve lengths between 108 cm and 212 cm. and weights between 113 kg and 428 kg. Information on leatherback turtle sightings in different places of the shelf in the last 15 years (2000-2014) is provided, and recaptured of individuals in Cuban waters tagged in other regions.
