Substitution of fish meal by poultry byproduct meal in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).Abstract
The poultry byproduct meal (PBM) was used substituting the fish meal (FM) for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerling for which was carried out an experiment in 1 m 3 cement tanks according to model of simple classification. The treatments were a commercial food with 10 % of FM (control) and the experimental diet with 10 % of PBM. Significant differences in the final weight (2,64 and 2,32 g), food conversion rate (1,66 and 1,73) and the survival rate (86,0 and 81,5 %) were found favoring the control group. As a conclusion, it was not possible the total substitution of the FM by PBM in the commercial food for tilapias fingerling.
